2023 High School Program Recipients
The Dr. Ronald E. Hodges Scholarship Fund (DHSF) Scholarship Award Committee is honored to announce $250 scholarship awards to three Los Angeles High School graduating seniors in part to help offset their initial college education cost. More information about each successful 2023 DHSF scholarship recipient is shared below.
Jacob Ponce
Mr. Ponce graduated in 2022 from the Los Angeles High School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Magnet Program with a weighted 4.277 GPA. Mr. Ponce a high school and community activities include being a high school yearbook editor, lead photographer, volleyball captain, MESA program, active in church along with many other accomplishments. Mr. Ponce has been accepted and plans to attend UCLA for the 2023 Fall Quarter admitted to College of Letters and Sciences in Mathematics.
Janet Paez
Ms. Paez graduated in 2022 from the Los Angeles High School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Magnet Program with a weighted 3.256 GPA. Ms. Paez high school and community activities include high school volleyball manager for boys and girls teams and volunteered to work homeless organizations during the pandemic. Ms. Paez has also gained early work experience employed as a secretary at 1st Choice Driving & Traffic School. Ms. Paez has been accepted and plans to attend CSULA for the 2023 Fall Quarter to study in business.
Edison Oxlaj
Mr. Oxlaj graduated in 2022 from the Los Angeles High School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Magnet Program with a weighted 4.2 GPA. Mr. Oxlaj high school and community activities include MESA, PESA, SALEF programs, youth court, honor roll, volunteered to work at the Lemon Grove Food Drive, and NASA JPL Legacy Award. Mr. Oxlaj has been accepted and plans to attend UCLA for the 2023 Fall Quarter admitted to College of Letters and Sciences in Business Economics.
